Accessing real-world data across international borders has long been a headache for life sciences companies. Data residency laws, privacy concerns, and siloed systems have historically slowed down insights and delayed market decisions. But Panalgo’s IHD Cloud is changing the game.
We spoke with Erik Maul, Senior Director of RWE Partnerships at Panalgo, to find out how IHD Cloud allows companies to tap into international data silos without physically moving data, accelerating insights and reducing costs along the way.
Q: Accessing data from Europe can often be a challenge for U.S.-based life sciences companies. How does IHD Cloud help them solve this challenge?
A: There are a lot of challenges that go into ex-U.S. data access and connectivity, and most of these challenges fall under data sovereignty. One of the first questions that we must address is data residency, the location/storage of the data, and what are those restrictions regarding movement or lack thereof from that country. With IHD Cloud, data doesn’t have to move and connecting to data storage in other countries via the technology we have created is now possible. Coupling this with the capabilities of IHD Cloud related to access, processing, security, and export restrictions, IHD Cloud operates more along the pillars of a trusted research environment for our life science clients. They can leverage IHDs capabilities and the data seamlessly to get a fuller picture of the patient journey without any data movement or access outside of the platform.
Q: IHD Cloud also centralizes data management and analytics within clients’ own cloud environments. Why is this flexibility such an advantage?
A: It’s not just about the flexibility advantage of analytics in one place. IHD Cloud becomes this central repository for all your data, evidence, code lists, and more. Our clients make significant investment in RWD, and IHD Cloud can now be the centralized hub for them to see the return on those investments or make additional investments if what they have is not fit for purpose. The flexibility around data models is where IHD Cloud can really make an impact for clients. I great example of this is OMOP, a global standard common data model, which IHD Cloud is already configured to and Panalgo is very familiar. Clients can leverage the same data assets in both their standard format, and they can transform it to OMOP via a partner or internal team and use it in IHD. If a client’s ex-U.S. team is more familiar with using the OMOP standard and collaborating with it, clients now have a common data model, with a common platform and tools that has transparency, replicability, and collaboration without sacrificing the insights from data in its relational format. If OMOP is the universal language, then IHD Cloud is the universal translator to work across your enterprise.
Q: Let’s discuss the speed that IHD offers. It enables users to conduct analyses 85% faster than traditional methods, significantly reducing the time from data collection to impactful insights. How does this speed help life sciences companies get better insights and get therapies to market faster?
A: IHD is a point-and-click solution where clients can run and iterate on analysis quickly, faster than traditional programming, all within the same platform and same toolset. IHD capabilities allow clients to leverage analytic ready data, across multiple assets, and using multiple types of analysis to quickly derive insights. The value is understanding real-world data (RWD) faster to make a more informed and educated decisions or pivot quickly on where to invest time and resources. Now we are exploring ways to make that experience easier for users that want a more conversational interactive experience with Ella AI.
Q: How else does IHD Cloud stand out from other offerings in the marketplace?
A: How IHD Cloud stands out is only possible because of Panalgo’s history and experience being at the forefront of harmonizing real-world data for use in IHD. It’s the people that make IHD and IHD Cloud stand out in the market. Their knowledge and experience working with multiple vendors and partners in the industry, collaborating with vendors on data configuration and validation across a multitude of data sets, types, and variation. All of this and our focus on the future of IHD allows IHD Cloud clients the advantage of more data, preconfigured, and readily accessible within the platform. IHD Cloud offers clients and users a “single pane of glass” access point to their entire data repository with collaboration functionality to share their outputs with other users and stakeholders. Plus, there’s no end to the customization of IHD Cloud. It meets clients where they are and helps them turn complex data into a strategic advantage.
